Be Wary of Paid To Post Opportunities

May 21, 2008

I used to blog for many of the paid to post websites on the Internet and I was making a good deal of money per week. There are so many of these companies out there and I belonged to most of them:

- Izea, Blogitive, Blogsvertise, Review Me, Smorty - you name it I was probably blogging for them. I had at least seven blogs and I was busily working on each of them daily.

Things were going well for me until Google decided to crack down on sites that participate in paid postings. My main website, which I only did a few paid postings on, was hit hard and my page rank was knocked from 4 to 0. I was furious. After that happened I started losing Google revenue and I just felt as though I had done all of this work for nothing. So I gave up the paid blogging. I would rather have my PR, my substantial Google revenue back and my reputation.

If you are planning on doing something like this, make sure you do not use a blog that has a high PR. I did get my PR back on my main site after asking for reconsideration from Google.

Indoor Flea Markets

May 21, 2008

My father in law has booths at various indoor flea markets. He sells socks, tools and groceries. There was a time, when he first started in the flea marketing business, that he sat up booths at traditional outside flea markets. He much prefers the indoor flea markets now!

When you use an indoor flea market, you don’t have to worry about you and your products being out in the elements. They are open year round and every day, except for some holidays. When a customer wants to buy one of your products, they take it to the check out counter and pay for it. There is no need for you to be there except to make sure your booth is well stocked and neat and of course, to pick up your check each month.

There is virtually no end to the things you can sell in a flea market, indoor or outside.

Flea Markets and Craft Markets

May 20, 2008

Flea markets and craft markets are a great way to make some additional money. One popular craft that many people don’t know about are duct tape purses, wallets and clothing. Might sound crazy until you see some of the items that are crafted from duct tape. You can start a secret side biz in the duct tape crafts to make some extra pocket money.

There are some great how-to articles all over the internet to learn how to make many different duct tape items. You can even cover your booth in duct tape to catch the eye of people that walk by. Duct tape is inexpensive and your initial startup will be low.

Ideas for craft items are abundant from jewelry to quilts, dream catchers to tie-dyed clothing and everything in between. This is a great way to pick up some extra money and a fun secret side biz to have.

Blogging For Profit

May 20, 2008

A lot of times people think that blogging for a living is an easy and quick way to make money. If you like to write, it may be easy for you but it takes a lot of time, effort and dedication. I have been blogging for over 2 years now and I am finally at the level where I qualify for a Google Adsense check monthly. It has also taken that entire time to build up a solid, great readership and a good reputation online.

Depending on where you look online, you can write for so much cash per post or part of the ad revenue. If you are blogging for yourself, you can use Google Adsense, Amazon and other affilliates in order to earn extra cash.

The key to making it in blogging is to post daily, promote your site by commenting on other people’s blogs and staying consistent.

Adsense

May 16, 2008

I had several blogs with once with Adsense on all of them. In the two years that I half way maintained my blogs, I made a total of $30. I let them go, I had them mainly to see if I could make money with them. But, what I have wondered since is if I could have promoted them, would they have made more? Maybe I will find out one day.

Love Birds

May 16, 2008

a few years back there was a lovebird’s frenzy here in our place. it all started when my folks were given a couple of lovebirds by a family friend. and another friend gave us another pair.

a few weeks later, our birds have multiplied and multiplied that they sort of crowded their cage. so we decided to sell some of them. mostly to friends and colleagues which later on gave referrals to their other friends and families. our house became quite a regular “stopover” for travelers who happened to hear about our “bird store”. our “suki” (avid customer) was the 12-year old son of a bank manager from another province. he was such a nice kid. each time they pass by our town, he’d ask his dad to visit our house. at one time, he even convinced his dad to buy 16 pairs of lovebirds! that was the biggest sale we ever had.

breeding lovebirds is indeed a good income-generating pastime. as long as you take good care of the birds, they will take care of you in return.

my online store

May 14, 2008

i was a student when i started selling on the internet. i usually sell clothes and cosmetics. i’m an addict for vintage stuff and i often go to vintage stores with my friends. it’s fun looking up and down the racks for that perfect find. it’s an elation for me to be able to buy stuff with my savings then sell them online. it has helped me get through with my side-expenses. tee-hee.
i sell them via multiply or have them auctioned at ebay. i get more income when i have it auctioned. i used to have a high starting bid. but sometimes i don’t attract enough bidders. so i had it lowered to like a tenth of it’s original price. it’s a bit risky. but the bids go higher and higher. i’ve sold several items that were bought for three times its original price. not the original bid take note.
now, whenever my closet gets full, i unload them, take some shutter clicks and post them online. at least i’ve earned more closet space plus i get my money back. my family got really amazed of what i did. i never told them about that before. but when they did, they take pride in telling their friends that i’m business-wise.
maybe i shouldn’t have taken up medicine. i should have gone into business management or something. but i guess my business is just like what you call “my secret side biz”.
tscha!

Write Review Blogs for Extra Money

May 14, 2008

There are many places that you can set up a free blog. Once you have the blog, you can sell advertising space or be an ad affiliate or member. There are two popular forms of blogs right now that advertisers spend a great deal of money selling their product ads for. These two types of blogs are health products and the other is electronic products.

Be specific and stick to one main subcategory for each blog. For example, you can do a health blog but the sub-category would be dieting. A different health blog would be vitamins. You can do product reviews on these blogs and informational posts. This will get you a great deal of money from the ads. You can do this with the main categories health and electronics and then have specific subcategories that your actual blog covers. It’s a great way to make money as a side business. You only have to update every few days so you can work your regular job and spend time as you have it on the blogs as a side biz.

Work At Home Un-Ops.

May 12, 2008

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the online home business opportunities. I know that a lot of them are great deals, where you only need to work 2 hours a day and can make thousands. If any of you are actually making some money off of this, please let me know.

What is giving away that most of these are hoaxes not only has to do with the need to “pay” before you can work, but also because I just got a really thick magazine in the mail, all with home business opportunities. All of them had large promises and little input into the system that they had. And, all of them wanted your money first.

Let me tell you about one that I looked into. It looked completely legitimate, and it was only $3 and it was in my area of expertise, which I’m building a business off of anyway. I went ahead for the trial, only to find out, they had literally copied off of another website, consolidated a whole bunch of information and were basically making you pay for information that you could find for free. Not only that, but they charged you an extra $50 after starting up.

Now, what I really do believe is that those work at home opportunities are not opportunities at all. Unless you can find it through a legitimate website or through a space that allows you to find the same work for free - forget it! Don’t do it! It’s most likely an easy way to get your money.
