If you enjoy washing, drying, and folding clothes then perhaps a laundry service business could be for you. You can offer to do laundry for individuals and businesses based upon the number of loads or the number of pounds. You can charge extra for using your own laundry detergent, bleach, and other laundry supplies. You can also offer delivery or pickup and at your house or at your clients’ homes.
This business could be very profitable if you live in or near a college community. Prior to starting your laundry service you should obtain a business license and a business banking account. You will have to pay taxes on the income which you derive from your business. Business licenses can be obtain at your local business licenses agency. In some cities this is a municpal agency and in others it is the county or state authorities. Also, you probably will want to register your ficitious business name with the proper authorities.
Starting a laundry service has little risk and with little upfront capital involve. You can advertise your service by posting flyers, brochures, business cards and even posting on a local community board.
This is a really wonderful idea. We live just a few miles from a community college, too, so I might have to try it out.
