Taking Payments On Your Business Website

April 21, 2006 · Print This Article

If you have started your online business and you are thinking about taking payment then be aware that not all processors are the same. You can find yourself with payment processor who has little to no protection at all and you can find yourself easily scammed and losing money.

Look for someone who has good encryption or even call and speak directly with someone who can explain to you how they do and plan in the future to combat fraud and keep your accounts and business safe.

What I have noticed with some of the processors is the way they handle a transaction. Some obviously don’t have the technology to immediately check and see if the card is still good and if there is money to cover the purchase or anything.

If they are not good then it can take days for the card to completely process, meanwhile the product is shipped out and when the card clears the payment is denied usually for insufficient funds. That’s a good point, Marsha.

I’m really fond of taking payments via PayPal. They only take like 1% or so, and can accept credit cards.

These days, you don’t even need a paypal acct. to pay via PayPal with a credit card.

Got something to say?
